Estimator Dan Harrison shares his experience

This month, International Lining Technology, one of the nation’s leading geosynthetics and geomembrane contractors, would like to highlight the work of Dan Harrison. He has been with us since May 2011 and is an estimator.

What does your job entail?

My primary task is bidding on projects, which involves quantity takeoffs, specification reviews, and composing estimates and proposals. I also track and obtain projects to bid, produce necessary AutoCAD drawings for submittal purposes, communicate on a regular basis with contractors and material suppliers to strengthen relationships, and assist with project management.

What previous experience do you bring to the job?

My background was in drafting, which brought me into the industry in 1997. I have 17 years of relevant experience.

What do you enjoy most about your job at International Lining Technology?

It is the large amount of projects that we have the opportunity to bid on. Each one differs in ways from the last. It allows us to look at each job differently, and thus, better the manner in which we bid the work.

What is one surprising aspect about your job that people don’t know about?

It is probably the large number of projects that we bid on every year. It typically varies anywhere from 150 to 250 jobs.

What is one interesting fact about you?

I am a Pisces.

What do you like to do outside of work?

I enjoy camping and being outdoors as much as I can.
