Geosynthics item of note for the upcoming month

As the holiday season commences or for some moves forward, several noteworthy items came across our desks and we wanted to share with you before the hub-bub takes over.

Conferences in exotic locales

  • The GeoAmericas 2016 conference in Miami Beach, Florida, is scheduled this week to open registration for its event April 10-13, 2016. Keep an eye out for more information. According to, the exhibition hall is packed and the hotel bookings are getting slim. More details also will be released about the agenda, speakers and classes. At a glance, several courses on geosynthetic applications on wall reinforcements seem right up International Lining Technology’s alley.
  • Registration ends this week for 15th Pan-American Conference on Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering, which will be held Nov. 15–18 in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Prize-worthy photos

The International Erosion Control Association is holding its annual photo contest. Those whose would like to submit photos related to erosion and sediment control solutions have until Dec. 31. Winners will receive a small cash prize and be featured in the Environmental Connection magazine, IECA’s conference and expo. For more details, check out the photo contest page.
